3 Family Fun Activities in Seattle

Psychologists agree that quality time results in family bonding. Seattle is a city overflowing with fun family entertainment opportunities. The following three family amusement activities in Seattle are excellent parent-child bonding experiences.

Space Needle: The Seattle Space Needle is an internationally renowned landmark that originated from the humble napkin drawings by Edward E. Carlson, president of Western International Hotels at the time. The futuristic structure was completed as a symbol for the 1962 World Fair. Architect, John Graham’s team implemented changes to the original design before the structure was finalized. The dome of the space needle consists of five levels including a revolving restaurant and observation deck. Ticket information, hours, parking, directions and group information are available on the website.

Seattle Great Wheel: Miners Landing at Pier 57 on Elliott Bay is the location for the Seattle Great Wheel. The giant ferris wheel, measuring 175 feet tall, opened to the public in 2012. The 42 climate controlled gondolas carry up to eight passengers each for a 12 minute ride. The waiting queue is covered in case of rain to protect patrons. The ferris wheel extends out 40 feet beyond the end of the pier over Elliott Bay. It is the largest observation wheel on the west coast. For further information and advanced ticket purchases visit the website.

Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle’s Restaurant: Children and adults alike enjoy a turn at bat hitting softballs/baseballs in the batting cage. Helmets and bats are available onsite. Children of all ages enjoy bumper boats which are motorized rafts in a large pool. For patrons wanting to stay dry, bumper cars have a 360 degree dual joystick for spinning fun or zoom around an outdoor track in a fast moving go-kart. Families enjoy teaming up and playing a game of laser tag or taking a ride on Max Flight, a roller coaster simulator. Bullwinkle’s Restaurant offers a wide variety of food from hamburgers to pizza.
