Next Thursday, Take the Downtown Art Walk

On the second Thursday of every month, an exciting thing happens in downtown Los Angeles. Bringing together locals and visitors in a celebration of art, the Downtown Art Walk offers a unique experience that simply cannot be missed. You’ll be fascinated by the countless works of art on display at the galleries all around the area and can engage in various art-based activities as you stroll through the city, taking in the vibrant colors and emotions represented in every exciting creation.

The Downtown Art Walk Organization is responsible for this monthly event and it also runs a wide array of programs for local artists, encouraging and supporting them in their individual artistic journeys. The programs on offer at the organization help these artists to realize their dreams and associate with local galleries, improving the representation of art throughout the city of Los Angeles. The main goal of the organization is to boost the community through its various efforts, so this is one cause that is well worth supporting.

The art walk begins in the Art Walk Lounge, easily accessible from all around the city. This lounge is decorated with fresh and fascinating pieces of art created by local and international talents. Most of the work on display is for sale and some visitors love to begin their special day with the purchase of a new piece for their collection. Regardless of whether or not you make a purchase of your own, this lounge is beautifully decorated and a perfect starting point for your self-guided walk.

After picking up a map from the lounge, you’re free to begin your walk in any way you choose. One of the main principles of art is freedom of expression and this is mimicked in the way the walk plays out; it’s up to you to decide which way you’ll go, which means that every walk will be different and every visitor will walk away with a unique set of memories. The galleries over on Downtown’s Spring and Main streets will be the main hub of activity, but there are plenty of other exhibitions on display around every corner and many visitors love to search the smaller streets for hidden gems.

Street vendors will be out in force to provide an array of tasty snacks for your walk while local restaurants and shops will also get in on the act. The whole Downtown community essentially comes together to express its artistic side on this unique occasion and it really shouldn’t be missed. The sights and sounds on offer will stick with you and surely encourage you to come back for a second walk. Meanwhile, it’s not uncommon for people to make new friends and acquaintances throughout the day as you encounter like-minded visitors and share your views and opinions on various pieces of art. So on the next second Thursday of the month, head on down to Downtown to appreciate this incredible art walk.
