NAX Jax Air Show - Starring the Blue Angels!

Many tourists who visit Jacksonville, Florida are attracted to the unquestionably beautiful beaches and lively downtown area. Most forget that Jacksonville has a large Army community and is home to the Jacksonville Naval Air Base. The base hosts the NAS Jax Air Show every year, usually toward the end of October. 

The stars of the show are always the US Navy Blue Angels. Blue Angels flight team is compromised of the Marine Corp and the Navy flying F/A-18 Hornet aircrafts. The Blue Angels team performs at air shows across the United States and never let down the crowd by performing advanced maneuvers and impressive synchronization. Pilots can also be found flying F-22 Raptor (a newer fighter plane) and the Vought F4U-5NL Corsair which was popularized during World War II.

Attending the show will provide an amazing experience for all members of the family as well nice history lesson. It gives the community a greater appreciation for the members of the Armed Forces and specifically highlights the skills of fighter pilots.

The show even features novelty attractions such as the School Time Jet Powered Bus! The School Time Jet Powered Bus is a regular school bus that is fitted with an engine from a Phantom fighter jet. The bus will not be transporting any children, but it’s still fun to watch it in action! In case the kids become restless from watch the jets soar through the air, they can head over to the designated Kid Zone that is set up each year. The Kid Zone features bounce houses, jumbo slides, rock-climbing, and many more fun activities specifically tailored for kids.

The show itself usually attracts around 200,000 people each year! So there is never a shortage of opportunities to socialize. With that said, it is recommended that you arrive early and carpool if possible to avoid traffic.

The show typically begins at 10 am with gates opening at 9 am. It is located at the Naval Air Station at 6801 Roosevelt Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32210. Parking is free and admission is also free for the entire family! Save the date for the NAS Jax Air Show next October!
