Enjoy the Downtown Aquarium in Denver

Children of all ages marvel at the Downtown Aquarium located at 700 Water Street in Denver, Colorado. Landry’s Restaurants Inc. purchased Colorado’s Ocean Journey Aquarium in 2003 and redesigned the aquarium to feature over 500 species of aquatic animals. Landry’s has a history of acquiring run-down properties and revitalizing the assets into money making profit centers.

Aquarium Adventure Exhibits: Patrons learn about a variety of aquatic habitats in North America in a special exhibit featuring interesting animals that call the continent home. An exhibit titled, “Under the Sea,” features beautiful reef formations and animal species that live around reefs. The “Tropical Rainforest” exhibit represents areas that tend to flood often. A visitor favorite is the “Sunken Temple” exhibit, which simulates ancient underwater ruins and temples. Ticket prices are available on the website.

Dining and Drinks: The Dive Lounge located on the first floor offers happy hour Monday through Friday in an upscale environment. The Downtown Aquarium features a unique fine dining experience surrounded by a 150,000 gallon aquarium. All tables offer the opportunity for floor to ceiling aquarium viewing. Diners may watch as divers feed the aquatic residents twice each day. Families should consider ordering the Castaway Combo, which includes bruschetta, calamari, fried cheese sticks with marinara sauce, and shrimp and crab dip. The restaurant offers diners a menu variety from salads to seafood. The restaurant offers a lunch menu and a kids menu. Menu available on the website.

Mystic Mermaids: Mermaids are mythological half fish, half human creatures. Denver Downtown Aquarium has captured the magic of the mermaid with a group of underwater performers sure to delight the inner child in everyone. The Mystic Mermaids perform in a choreographed interactive show. Patrons learn the importance of protecting the environment. Further information about the Mystic Mermaid shows are available online.
