Don’t Miss NYC’s Halloween Ghouls and Gourds Festival

You can smell fall in the air! NYC is the place to be for Fall Festivals and Halloween events!

On Sunday, October 24 the Brooklyn Botanic Garden hosts its annual Ghouls and Gourds Festival. Costume-clad families from across the area will travel to the Gardens to be part of one of the funniest and wackiest Halloween celebrations in the world.

The event is held against the beautiful floral background of the garden and visitors will enjoy fun music, hands-on-workshops, giant puppets, a Batty Book Barn, stilt dancers and more.

This year's event theme is farming. The Garden will be transformed into a farm wonderland that offers friendly scarecrows and a pretend petting zoo. You’ll hit the barn floor for a rambunctious barn dance, yee haw!

Roll up your sleeves and get dirty participating in large scale arts and crafts projects. At this year's event they will be making a giant spider web out of ribbon and yarn. They’ll also be making a mandala out of a pile of recycled items and creating a Pumpkin Patchwork Project, which will be a giant sculpture made completely from pumpkin and gourd pieces.

Inside the Book Barn children will find more than a dozen of their favorite children’s book authors and illustrators. Several authors will be captivating children with book readings followed by book signings.

The event will also feature a Flying Flea Circus and theatrics from the Festival of Vegetables and giant stilt dancers will leave your children in awe.

The festival is packed full of live music including performances by the Mexican folk rock band Moona Luna and Sippy Cup Rock performed by Suzi Shelton.

This years event also features:

Workshop Monster on a Leash, Make your own monster Egg Shaker Shack, Make your own maraca , Field Mouse Masks- transform yourself into a squeeky mouse. The wooly Workshop Project will show you how to spin, weave and dye wool. It will be fantastic!
