Denver: Your Destination for Romance
Gold was discovered in 1858 at the base of the Rocky Mountains by prospectors from Georgia. An area along the banks of the South Platte River soon became a destination for settlers seeking fortunes. General William H. Larimer laid claim to land along the eastern border of Cherry Creek. He divided the land into partials and sold the partials under the city name of Denver. Rich in history and natural beauty, Denver, Colorado is the ultimate romantic destination.
Fun Activities: Ski equipment is available for rent in Denver to ski the nearby slopes. Southwest Rink at Skyline Park offers ice skating in downtown Denver. Couples may enjoy a romantic stroll through City Park. Clyfford Still Museum will delight the art lover in everyone. Several tours are offered throughout the city including a beer walking tour. Forbidden Broadway: Alive and Kicking, a romantic comedy, runs now through March 1, 2015, at the Garner Galleria Theatre. The Buell Theatre presents Cinderella February 2nd through February 15, 2015.
Romantic Restaurants: Couples may dine by candlelight on spicy Cuban cuisine at Cuba Cuba, located in the Golden Triangle District. Try the Ceviche Con Tostones, a marinated shrimp dish served over fresh green plantains. Vesta Dipping Grill, located at 1822 Blake Street, offers world grill cuisine served with dipping sauces. The Madras Grilled Venison is highly recommended. Le Grand Bistro and Oyster Bar is sure to please an appetite for French cuisine. The restaurant is located in the center of the theatre district and near Colorado Convention Center. Start by ordering the white bean soup and for an entree the Pancetta Stuffed Rabbit Roulade is sure to please.
Valentines Hotel Packages: The Inverness Hotel offers an Everything Romance Package for couples that includes deluxe overnight accommodations, breakfast for two and a bottle of house wine with complimentary appetizer in the Fireside Bar and Grill. The Nickel’s Valentine Package at Hotel Teetro includes luxurious one night accommodations, two drinks and an appetizer before dinner, dinner for two with wine selections, in-room dessert and champagne in addition to a coffee and pastry breakfast. The Warwick Hotel offers a Valentine package to ignite the romantic flames, which includes an elegantly furnished room, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival, dinner for two and breakfast in bed.
