5 Best Los Angeles Museums for Children

Los Angeles is not only a city for trade, entertainment, fashion, culture, science, and media but also a city with a number of museums dedicated to children. They offer ample play spaces, live experiments for kids, spectacular views of animals, exhibitions and more. This makes L.A. a perfect place to spend time with kids and provide a unique learning experience along with entertainment.

Zimmer Children's Museum

This children’s museum offers various kinds of activities that generate awareness in children about the city’s culture. Children are motivated to carry out some exciting and educational activities like ambulance driving, playing different kinds of musical instruments, playing pinball machines, arts and more.

The museum is closed on Mondays and Saturdays and on all Jewish or national holidays. The timings are Tuesdays to Thursdays from 10 am to 5 pm, Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm and Sundays from 12:30 pm to 5 pm. There is no entry fee for children below the age of 1 year and their grandparents on Thursdays.

Page Museum La Brea Tarpits

It is a perfect place for kids to have an exciting learning experience about prehistoric animals and their behavior. The artifacts of the prehistoric animals will draw in these little minds and inspire awe. This will invigorate the kids to find out more about these animals. A bubbling tar pit is the main attraction for kids in this museum.

This museum is open every day from 9.30 am to 5 pm. There is no entry fee for kids under 3 years of age while entry is free on the first Tuesday of every month.

California Science Center

This science center provides kids with exposure to scientific experiments along with some hands-on activities. There are discovery rooms that consist of a number of experiments in the kitchen, construction zone, and garden, which are carried out by children. Such activities are insightful, exciting, and fun.

The Science Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Year. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily and the permanent exhibits can be visited without any fee.

Kidspace Museum for Children

This museum provides an amazing learning environment for children. It has everything from tile tracks to Kirby's Kid Corner to the gallery named Digging Deeper that offers fascinating learning experiences to little minds.

It is closed on Mondays and open on Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:30 am to 5 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. It is free for kids under the age of 1 year.

Skirball Cultural Center

This cultural center is a Jewish institution that organizes various family programs along with an exhibit for the kids called Noah's Ark. This is an amazing exhibit for the preschoolers to explore their creative side through building and creating things.

It is closed on Monday and  open on Tuesdays to Fridays from noon to 5 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 in the morning to five in the evening. There is an entrance fee for kids and adults but the entry is free on Thursdays.
